Welcome to Virtual Church
Kenton Baptist Church
Sunday 9th May
"Be still and know that I am God" is a well-known verse in Psalm 46 that encourages us to draw aside and develop our relationship with God. This is not a passive being still, but an active one focusing on knowing more of who He is. When we focus on God, His Spirit works in us and we realise that everything about Him is secure - He is faithful and He is totally dependable and consistent.
It’s important to take time to be still before God and to know who He is: Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us if we trust God with all our ways then He will direct our paths and Isaiah 40.31 says "They who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint" - so waiting on God does us good - He knows best!
It's about spending time with Him, listening to Him, realising that He is completely trustworthy, that His Word is true and that what He says always comes to pass....even if we have to wait for it!
God cannot be hurried and there are no short cuts. Everything happens according to His timing - and we can be sure that His timing is perfect!
Let's open our hearts up in praise this morning and ask God to renew us, strengthen us and breathe His life into us anew.

Father God, we acknowledge that You are all we need. You are the One who has given us life and breath. Lord Jesus, we bow to You in adoration and worship - the Holy God of all creation, the One who is, who was and who is to come! Breathe on us now and let your Holy Spirit fall upon us as come to worship You in Spirit and Truth.
