Welcome to Virtual Church

"I give you thanks, O LORD, with my whole heart ...
I bow towards your holy temple and give thanks to your name
for your steadfast love and your faithfulness ..."
Psalm 138:1,2
These words from our call to worship invite us to come before God bowing with humility before his majesty, his holiness, his 'other-ness'. But we also come before him with thanks and praise. It is he who gives us life, hope and joy. He sustains us with his 'steadfast love and faithfulness'. In worship we join with the whole of creation to honour and praise him.

Scripture Reading
Our Bible reading is from Luke 18:9-14 (ESV)
and is read by
Mark Cherrington
As the tax collector in the Scripture passage recognised his unworthiness before God, we approach God in worship using the words of a traditional prayer:
Almighty God,
to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hidden,
cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit,
that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name,
through Christ our Lord. Amen
Recognising our own need of God's loving forgiveness through Jesus Christ, we bring to him songs of worship that honour him, reflecting our gratitude and our adoration.

If Faith Can Move The Mountains
(Waiting Here For You)
Our Father, we have sung about your love expressed in Jesus, who gave his life to set us free from the guilt, penalty and power of sin. We have sung our grateful 'hallelujahs' and have acknowledged our dependence on you, the only hope for us and for our world. Now as we listen to your word give us hearts open to hear your voice, minds open to understand how we can approach you better and wills open to the direction of your Holy Spirit. Amen
